Il y a eu Le Remplaçant en 2003, Rien ne sert d’exister en 2006, Petit Manuel d’engagement politique en 2010. Aujourd’hui, Yves Cusset présente son nouveau seul-en-scène : N’être pas né. En respectant la structure d’une tragédie antique, l’auteur-philosophe et comédien suit le parcours d’un homme qui a pour particularité de n’être jamais vraiment né. « La pièce retrace, du point de vue d’un narrateur adulte, sur un mode décalé et onirique, la vie intra-utérine puis post-natale du protagoniste, explique le metteur en scène Philippe Touzet. La drôlerie comme la poésie du texte reposent avant tout sur la projection de la parole et de l’expérience de l’adulte, sur la vie du fœtus et du nourrisson, traduisant l’impossibilité d’un authentique souvenir d’une période à la fois pré-langagière et infra-subjective ». Explorant, comme à son habitude, un entre-deux navigant entre comique et tragique, Yves Cusset mêle rire, mélancolie, jeux de mots. Il rejoint ainsi, « par la forme de l’adresse et par son pouvoir d’interpellation du public », le genre du café théâtre.
