NOUVELLES FRONTIERES SYMPHONIQUES L’orchestre symphonique, le lieu musical par excellence où se cristallisent tous les enjeux et défis de la musique classique, condamnée à élargir son public tout en le rajeunissant, a commencé sa mue : répertoires métissés, actions jeune public, concerts de sensibilisation, mise en forme du concert, etc. Le week-end d’Orchestres en Fête à la Philharmonie, antenne parisienne d’une manifestation nationale visant « grâce à des événements aux concepts originaux et novateurs, à renouveler la perception que l’on peut avoir de l’orchestre et de la musique classique », présente en quelques concerts une photographie d’une nouvelle scène symphonique nationale bien décidée à faire bouger les lignes. / ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE LYON / PHILHARMONIE
Depuis son arrivée à Lyon en 2011, le chef californien s’est distingué par un engagement fort en faveur de la musique française, en particulier celle de Ravel dont il a entrepris avec l’ONL l’enregistrement de l’intégrale de l’œuvre pour orchestre. Le rapprochement opéré ici par Slatkin entre le compositeur français et son contemporain George Gershwin est imparable car les deux compositeurs se respectaient et s’admiraient beaucoup. On se souvient à quel point Ravel perçut la force artistique révolutionnaire du jazz, on sait ce que Gershwin doit à la musique européenne. C’est d’ailleurs l’un des plus éminents pianistes de jazz européens, l’italien Stefano Bollani, que Slatkin a sollicité pour la partie soliste du Concerto en sol avant de diriger Gaspard de la Nuit et en conclusion euphorisante Un Américain à Paris…
