Son précédent enregistrement consacré aux « Sept dernières paroles du Christ » de Joseph Haydn lui a valu les éloges de Paul Badura-Skoda. « Tout en respectant le style de Haydn, il joue avec clarté de conception et profonde émotion » a déclaré le grand maître viennois. C’est pourtant vers Chopin qu’il se tourne aujourd’hui dans un nouveau disque enregistré en public et tourné vers les œuvres de la dernière période, celle qui débute en 1841… Formé au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris puis à celui de Genève, il reçoit également l’enseignement de György Sebok. Son tableau d’honneur international est impressionnant : Prix Spécial au Concours Chopin à Varsovie en 2000, Deuxième Prix au Concours International de Genève en 2001, Quatrième Prix au Concours Gina Bachauer aux États-Unis en 2002, Deuxième Prix du Young Concert Artists de New York en 2003… Un parcours sans faute. Reste aujourd’hui à Nicolas Stavy d’accomplir l’essentiel : conquérir le métier et le public des concerts. Premiers pas sous nos yeux et nos oreilles dans la formule des concerts de midi au Musée d’Orsay où il joue Schubert (Impromptus op. 90 n° 1, n° 3), Liszt (Années de pèlerinage : 2e année – Italie : Sonnets de Pétrarque – Après une lecture de Dante)etSchubert / Liszt avec des transcriptions des lieder du premier par le second.Un pianiste à découvrir puis à suivre de près.
