Il est l’une des personnalités-phares et l’un des pionniers de la prodigieuse scène actuelle du jazz scandinave. Avec au départ de sa trajectoire artistique l’album « Khmer », paru en 1997, qui révélait d’emblée chez lui le désir de trouver et d’imposer un son bien à lui fixant avec force son identité. « Regardez un musicien comme Jan Garbarek et comment il a su développer sa propre voix. Quel que soit l’emballage qu’il choisit pour sa musique, on reconnaît tout de suite que c’est Garbarek qui joue » confie-t-il. A la tête de son quartet régulier, il continue de jouer en concert la musique de son dernier album en date « ER » dans un savant jeu de déconstruction… « Quand on joue en live, c’est dans l’espoir de redonner quelque chose de nouveau » insiste-t-il.
