« Il semblerait que le monde ait fait naître, là où on ne l’attendait pas, une danse du dedans, authentiquement spirituelle, faite pour débusquer des monstres et dire l’inarticulé des paroles rentrées dans la gorge de ceux qui ne peuvent même plus crier » : Heddy Maalem a été transporté par sa découverte des danseurs de Krump, cette danse née dans les bas quartiers de Los Angeles et détournant l’agressivité pour célébrer la vie et la non-violence. Dans Eloge du puissant royaume, il rend hommage à cette haute énergie, dans laquelle l’état du danseur compte plus que la forme de ses mouvements. Une pièce forte qui dialoguera de façon organique avec La Hogra de Hamid Ben Mahi, qui tire son nom d’une expression arabe désignant l’abus de pouvoir, l’humiliation. Animé par le souvenir du printemps arabe, le chorégraphe nous implique dans son interrogation : de la résignation à la révolte, le fossé est grand ; quelle étincelle déclenche l’acte de rébellion ?
