NOUVELLE PRODUCTION / THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES
Encore une Norma ? Pas vraiment. Cette production présentée en 2013 au Festival de Salzburg se démarque à plus d’un titre. Musicalement, la partition renoue avec le manuscrit originel grâce au travail des musicologues Maurizio Biondi et Riccardo Minasi. Stylistiquement, le fait de jouer l’œuvre sur instruments anciens rend Bellini plus proche d’un pré-romantique que d’un romantique. Vocalement, le timbre de mezzo de Cecilia Bartoli évoque sans doute celui de la créatrice du rôle, Giuditta Pasta, rendant le contraste avec Adalgisa plus intéressant que quand les deux rôles sont chantés par des sopranos. Enfin, scéniquement, la prêtresse hiératique devient plus humaine dans la vision années 40 de Moshe Leiser et Patrice Caurier : « Dans cette nouvelle version scénique néo-réaliste, Norma est pour la première fois une femme amoureuse », décrit Cecilia Bartoli. Quatre bonnes raisons de découvrir cette Norma sous la direction de Diego Fasolis, pour quatre représentations seulement.
