Sous le titre Notre Carmen qui assume et revendique d’emblée sa prise de distance avec l’ouvrage original de Bizet, ce spectacle cherche à ouvrir une réflexion très contemporaine sur l’archétype de la femme libre que demeure Carmen. Un questionnement ouvert par deux femmes, qui se sont rencontrées à l’école Hanns Eisler de Berlin et ont donné vie depuis 2012 au projet du jeune collectif berlinois Hauen und Stechen, à découvrir en France à l’occasion de cette série de représentations à l’Athénée. « Notre Carmen est un affront, elle devient monstrueuse, expliquent Franziska Kronfoth, metteuse en scène, et Julia Lwowski, chorégraphe, à l’origine du spectacle. Notre Carmen ne croit plus à une liberté promise quelle qu’elle soit, mais elle exige une libération de cette implacable idéologie, qui sait même pervertir tout refus. Elle devient experte en travestissement, géante ébouriffée, ou vieille malodorante : notre Carmen développe des stratégies inédites. Notre Carmen paie pour son audace effrontée le prix de l’exclusion sociale. Elle n’est d’aucune fête, n’est pas invitée. ». Une expérience nouvelle de l’opéra intégrant théâtre et vidéo dans un esprit de laboratoire performatif et interactif avec le public. Avec l’Ensemble 9 et Roman Lemberg (adaptation et direction musicale).
