« Claude Nougaro est le chanteur français qui a su faire swinguer les mots sur le jazz. Son sens de l’interprétation et sa vie chaotique m’ont souvent fait penser à un électron libre. », dit Lulu, concepteur et chanteur-interprète de ce spectacle qui se veut aussi inclassable que son inspirateur. Avec les membres du collectif Gilda & Compagnie, Lulu mêle les disciplines artistiques pour créer une œuvre graphique et sonore. Mathieu Harlaut, au piano, Usmar, à la machinerie électro, Jean-Robert Lay, à la trompette et au bugle, Nicolas Devos, à la création vidéo, Nicolas Poitrenaud, au son, David Laurie, aux lumières et Anne Conti, à la mise en scène, rendent hommage au Toulousain protéiforme en éclairant son œuvre d’une lumière nouvelle. Lulu a choisi de « transpercer » le jazz de Nougaro par des musiques actuelles (électro, jungle, hip hop, break beat), voyageant dans les influences comme celui qui sut faire danser son verbe sur des airs africains, brésiliens ou sud-américains.
Un vivant paysage de mots, de notes et de couleurs
Ce « mot-sicien », comme il se plaisait lui-même à se définir, créait sur la toile autant que sur la page blanche : « une plume dédiée aux lettres, au dessin et à la peinture ». La dynamique du spectacle repose donc aussi sur l’univers visuel de Nougaro, empruntant à ses images sonores comme à ses images visuelles. Ce spectacle relève ainsi, à la fois, du théâtre, de la vidéo, de la danse et de la peinture, et invente une scène résolument africaine et contemporaine pour fêter ce « pygmée occitan avec du sang noir dans les veines ». Le récital joue avec les arrangements ; chaque chanson (des plus célèbres aux moins connues) est habillée par une création vidéo qui la dévoile et la révèle. Tous les éléments artistiques se répondent et se complètent au rythme de trois couleurs qui jouent de la palette des émotions et des inspirations thématiques. Autour de l’électron libre Nougaro, s’organise tout un système atomique, véritable petite bombe d’émotion et de talent !
