Rattrapé par les spectres du passé, il se condamne aux ténèbres pour échapper à jamais à la vision de son crime : ainsi se noue le sort d’Œdipe, qui, fuyant la terrible prédiction de l’oracle – tuer son père Laïos, épouser sa mère Jocaste -, l’accomplit malgré lui. C’est justement en explorant le contraste entre ombre et lumière que José Besprosvany a abordé ce mythe. « Je me tourne ainsi vers deux disciplines qui m’interpellent : le théâtre d’ombres qui, justement, est utilisé en Extrême-Orient pour raconter des histoires fabuleuses mêlant texte et musique, et l’utilisation de l’ombre et de la lumière dans l’art contemporain. » explique le chorégraphe et metteur en scène, qui mêle en scène texte, musique et mouvement. Portés par l’adaptation signée Olivier Kemeid, qui ose un phrasé contemporain et donne à la tragédie l’intensité dramatique d’un polar politique, les comédiens et danseurs donnent à cet implacable destin un écho étrange et saisissant.
