C’est en 1991 que le comédien et metteur en scène belge Antoine Juliens fonde sa compagnie Teatr’Opera. On leur doit aujourd’hui ce nouveau spectacle en tournée francilienne qui retrace la vie de celui qu’on surnomma « Le Mozart des Champs-Elysées » et sa lutte pour imposer ses ouvrages. Antoine Juliens signe le livret, les décors et la mise en scène d’Offenbach on stage. Pour composer cette « autobiographie imaginaire » conçue comme un «rituel offenbachique», il a puisé dans plus de vingt opéras et œuvres instrumentales. Comme fil conducteur du spectacle, le lien privilégié d’Offenbach avec Hortense Schneider, sa muse… Avec Alexandre Piquion (direction musicale et orchestration), les comédiens Yves Gourvil, Isabelle Maudet, Bertrand Chamerois et les chanteurs Laetitia Ithurbide, Elisa Dougty, Angéline Danel, Marie-Paule Lavogez, Vincent de Rooster, Éric Sahla, Paul-Alexandre Dubois, et Frédéric Bang-Rouet ; et l’Ensemble de Chambre Européen (17 instrumentistes).
