On ne se lassera jamais de célébrer l’immense auteur qu’est Samuel Beckett (1906-1989). Bien sûr l’un des plus importants du XXème siècle, mais tout simplement de l’histoire du théâtre. Un auteur à l’œuvre radicale, profondément personnelle, qui a découpé dans l’espace de l’art dramatique une vision complexe et paradoxale de l’existence. Cette vision tend à mêler, dans un même creuset d’éclats poétiques, la singularité d’un tragique et d’une drôlerie impalpables, l’expression bouleversante d’espérances et de désillusions qui se conjuguent. « Là où nous avons à la fois l’obscurité et la lumière, nous avons aussi l’inexplicable », disait Samuel Beckett, qui vécut l’obtention du Prix Nobel de littérature, en 1969, comme une épreuve. Plus de trente ans après sa disparition, près d’un demi-siècle après l’écriture de ses plus grandes pièces (Oh les beaux jours a été créée dans sa version anglaise en 1961, puis dans sa version française en 1963, En attendant Godot date de 1949, Fin de partie de 1957…), c’est encore et toujours sur le chemin de cet inexplicable que nous mène Oh les beaux jours, dans la proposition que présente cette saison, à Béthune, la metteure en scène Blandine Savetier.
Une Winnie décharnée et anguleuse
Une proposition iconoclaste, puisqu’elle confie le rôle central de Winnie non pas à une comédienne mais à un comédien. C’est le remarquable Yann Collette qui s’empare de cette pièce, avec la virtuosité qu’on lui connaît, conférant à la partition de son personnage hauteur, intelligence, musicalité. Au sein de l’univers sépulcral créé par Blandine Savetier et son scénographe (Emmanuel Clolus), l’acteur abolit immédiatement toute idée de masculinité et de travestissement pour faire naître une Winnie décharnée, anguleuse. Une Winnie qui, aux côtés de son vieux compagnon Willie (personnage brossé à gros traits par Nathalie Royer), cristallise à elle seule les impasses, les élévations et les ambiguïtés de la condition humaine. C’est un tableau d’une grande noirceur, d’une grande aridité, que compose Blandine Savetier à travers cette représentation résolument orientée du côté du funèbre. Un tableau qui – manquant de la pleine féminité que ne peut évidemment incarner Yann Collette – échappe à l’une des portées essentielles du texte de Samuel Beckett : le rapport à la matrice, au maternel, au symbole de vie et de mise au monde que représente la femme.
