Avez-vous jamais vu dialoguer le violon occidental et la veena indienne ? Avez-vous éprouvé combien la musique habite et sculpte l’espace, combien mouvements et sons subtilement correspondent et se répondent en une relation évidente ? Ne nous y trompons pas : cette évidence que l’on constate dans Omkara II n’a été rendue possible que grâce à un apprentissage traditionnel patient, exigeant et très long, grâce à un héritage que les artistes créateurs d’aujourd’hui modèlent et revisitent. « Cette maîtrise de rythmes très sophistiqués me permet au moment même de la performance d’être spontané. On fixe des cadres, et ce qui me motive c’est de pouvoir sortir de ces cadres ! Je ne m’épanouis que lorsqu’existe une part d’improvisation en moi. “ confie Raghunath Manet, qui admire en Didier Lockwood sa capacité d’improvisateur. Ce dernier s’enthousiasme : “Ce spectacle nous plonge dans une magie toute particulière, à l’essence même du son et du geste. Chaque représentation est pour moi un merveilleux voyage.”
Confrontation créative
Effectivement, le spectateur est entraîné de bout en bout dans cette savante et jubilatoire dynamique de dialogue entre Orient et Occident, entre tradition et improvisation, entre danse et musique. Raghunath Manet danse et joue, Didier Lockwood joue et parfois son corps bouge, danse : finalement le spectacle relève davantage du concert dansé que du spectacle de danse, car ce qui impressionne et ce qui s’exprime ici, c’est la beauté et la précision du rythme. Shiva a créé le monde au son du tambour en dansant. « Danse et musique ne font qu’un : c’est l’essence même de l’art indien. » explique Raghunath Manet. Le fantastique percussionniste Murugan accompagne ce spectacle original, profondément engagé. Les morceaux se succèdent, alternent les styles. La jeune chanteuse Aurélie Prost déploie son art, des chants baroques aux ragas indiens. Dans le cadre un brin désuet du théâtre de la Gaieté, cette communion sans esbroufe ni effets de “branchitude“ laisse la parole à l’essentiel : l’expression et le dialogue des arts, dans une mise en scène très simple. La réussite du spectacle naît de cet échange jubilatoire et nourri d’artistes talentueux, de la confrontation créative et sensible de deux cultures, née du désir de partage avec l’ailleurs et avec le public.
