Ils sont là. Depuis longtemps peut-être, ou depuis toujours. L’effluve de leur présence traîne encore parmi le désordre abandonné des objets. Leurs ombres rôdent, glissent dans un silence encombré de tables, chaises, miroirs, cadres et toiles retournées. Un paysage bruisse tranquillement, projeté au cœur de ces perspectives provisoires, laisse sourdre la vibration de l’absence dans le tremblée de l’image, qui regarde fixement le frémissement du temps. Et puis ils surgissent, figures vacillantes dans l’aube blanche, qui s’en viennent d’un ailleurs incertain. Ils sont là. Ils parlent, soliloquent, esquissent des gestes, fantômes d’un songe chaotique hantés par des « voix » où résonnent les clameurs du monde. Au fil des phrases, des mots s’échappent, s’entêtent… « acte irrévocable », « suicide » « création », « pouvoir »… Autant d’éclats tranchants qui creusent la question de l’art, vandale qui mord dans les chairs du présent, qui sondent aussi l’exercice du pouvoir, de la violence.
Un poème visuel et sonore
Créateur singulier, François Tanguy a glané sa matière dans quelques-uns des livres qui l’accompagnent au gré de ses déambulations poétiques. Les Démons et Les Frères Karamazov de Dostoïevski, La Poule d’eau de Witkiewicz, Le Chemin de Damas de Strindberg, le Journal de Kafka, La Divine Comédiede Dante, Richard II de Shakespeare, et bien d’autres encore, s’entrelacent en un secret dialogue pour composer la partition de Onzième, soutenue par les mélodies de Purcell, Sibelius, Schubert ou Berio. De digressions en allusions, les acteurs traversent cet espace peuplé d’apparitions emportées par le ressac de la mémoire. Leurs costumes de fortune, leur théâtralité affirmée, sans cesse avouent le simulacre tout en accomplissant la magie du poème. Avec son Théâtre du Radeau, François Tanguy tisse une œuvre qui gratte obstinément au revers du réel pour en dévoiler le mystère et le possible onirique, pour faire entendre l’écho existentiel de l’humain. Après Les cantates, Coda et Ricercar, Onzième décline une nouvelle variation. Malgré un titre qui se réfère au onzième des seize Quatuors à cordes de Beethoven, cette pièce paraît moins musicale que les précédentes. Retenu dans de longs monologues ou dialogues déracinés de leur contexte, donc extraits de leur enjeu dramatique, le rythme s’épuise et peine à trouver la résonance juste qui fait tout le trouble et la fulgurance de ce théâtre au seuil de l’indicible.
