Homme de théâtre – acteur, auteur et metteur en scène – Jean-François Sivadier est sur les scènes lyriques un cas à part, un perfectionniste du mouvement, qu’il sait à merveille accorder aux voix de ses interprètes. Sa Traviata, présentée l’été dernier au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, avait divisé la critique et le public, surpris que le théâtre fasse ainsi irruption, avec tant de finesse et de soin du détail, dans une œuvre qui se prête souvent, par ailleurs, à des lectures simplistes. Avec une distribution sensiblement modifiée – mais toujours avec Irina Lungu qui alternait à Aix le rôle de Violetta avec Natalie Dessay – cette démonstration de théâtre lyrique arrive à Dijon. Elle sera suivie, en mars, d’une nouvelle mise en scène du Couronnement de Poppée, coproduite avec l’Opéra de Lille et dont la direction musicale est confiée à Emmanuelle Haïm à la tête du Concert d’Astrée. L’opéra de Monteverdi, qui porte en musique les errements, remords et revirements de l’âme humaine, « histoire de pouvoir, d’amour et de manipulation érotique », se prête évidemment à l’art théâtral de Jean-François Sivadier.
