Pour son retour et celui de ses musiciens à Pleyel après deux mois d’absence, Laurent Petitgirard propose un programme particulièrement ambitieux et varié. En ouverture, il a choisi Alia (« Ascension » en hébreu), une œuvre remarquable de Pascal Zavaro (créée en 2000 en Grande-Bretagne par l’Orchestre de Picardie), inspirée par le rêve de Jacob dans la Genèse : « Lorsque j’ai redécouvert l’histoire du rêve de Jacob, je fus alors frappé par l’étrange dynamisme et la singulière “musicalité” de ce songe agité, traversé d’ascensions et de fulgurances » explique le compositeur. Au même programme, beaucoup plus familiers des programmes de concerts, le très virtuose et post-romantique Concerto pour violoncelle d’Elgar, servi par l’archet du coréen Sung Wong Yang, grande figure du violoncelle méconnue en France, puis la radieuse et pastorale Symphonie n°4 de Mahler avec la voix soliste de la soprano Ingrid Perruche dans le quatrième mouvement.
