L’orchestre de Laurent Petitgirard déroule naturellement sa saison avec deux nouveaux rendez-vous à la Salle Pleyel, convoquant deux de nos plus inestimables solistes français… Le violoncelliste Xavier Phillips, très marqué par sa rencontre avec Rostropovitch (qui l’a beaucoup soutenu et qui l’admirait), est le héros virtuose des Variations sur un thème rococo de Tchaikovski desquelles Phillips, avec sa fièvre énergique, sait extraire le meilleur de la substance musicale… Au même programme (le 19/11), Pavel Kogan dirige les Tableaux d’une exposition de Moussorgski orchestrés par Ravel et une œuvre pour chœur et orchestre d’Ilarion Alfeev, compositeur russe de musique sacrée né en 1966. Deux semaines plus tard, le pianiste Jean-Claude Pennetier sera le guide et poète des Nuits dans les jardins d’Espagne de Manuel de Falla. Une partition très influencée par l’univers debussyste, ce qui n’a évidemment pas échappé à Petitgirard, qui rapproche ce chef-d’œuvre trop rarement à l’affiche d’Iberia de Debussy mais aussi d’Espana de Chabrier. Jean-Claude Pennetier jouera aussi le Concerto pour piano de Graciane Finzi, composé en 1997 spécialement à son attention par la compositrice quivoit dans la figure du soliste un « être seul face au monde qui l’entoure avec tout ce que cela comporte de solitude et de romantisme ». Un portrait dans lequel Pennetier pourrait se reconnaître…
