Le chef d’orchestre Dominique Rouits, ex-mathématicien poussé à la direction par Yehudi Menuhin, donne naissance à son orchestre en 1989. Sa formation développe l’essentiel de son projet musical dans le cadre idéal de l’Opéra de Massy dont il fait son lieu de résidence : l’orchestre est régulièrement associé aux productions d’opéras « maison » et propose une véritable saison symphonique. Dans ce cadre, Rouits et ses troupes nous promettent, avec quelques semaines d’avance, « Un Printemps romantique » dans le cadre d’un programme partagé entre Wagner (Siegfried Idyll), Mendelssohn (Concerto pour violon en mi mineur op. 64) et Schumann (Symphonie n°1 « Le Printemps » en si bémol majeur op.38). Une semaine plus tard, sur la scène voisine et cousine de Longjumeau, l’orchestre cède à la tentation baroque dans un programme construit autour du souffle – celui des bois et des voix – dans des œuvres de Delalande, Devienne, Bach et Vivaldi. Avec le Chœur de Longjumeau et l’Atelier Chœur de l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy.
