Le choix s’annonce cornélien : le même soir, le mélomane parisien pourra écouter soit l’Orchestre de chambre d’Europe, soit l’Orchestre des jeunes Gustav Mahler. Ces deux formations réunissent des musiciens de différents pays européens au jeu aussi virtuose que dynamique. L’OCE est en concert à la Cité de la musique sous la baguette de Sakari Oramo. Ancien violoniste, le chef finlandais séduit par sa direction énergique et toujours précise. Il a choisi de réunir le Concert românesc de Ligeti, le Concerto pour violon n° 1 de Prokofiev (avec en soliste l’archet racé de Lisa Batiashvili) et la Symphonie n° 3 «Rhénane» de Schumann. On rissole de plaisir à l’idée de retrouver ces musiciens qui jouent en orchestre avec la même complicité qu’en musique de chambre (notons la présence de deux Français : le hautboïste François Leleux et le clarinettiste Roman Guyot). Au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, l’Orchestre Gustav Mahler, constitué d’instrumentistes plus jeunes, qui viennent de sortir des plus grands conservatoires européens, est dirigé par Antonio Pappano. Le maestro, connu pour ses interprétations du répertoire lyrique (il est le chef du Covent Garden de Londres), s’attaque à Mort et Transfiguration et Une vie de héros de Strauss et au Concerto pour violoncelle n° 1 de Chostakovitch (avec en soliste Han-na Chang).
