Compositeur et chef d’orchestre très familier du Septième art (on lui doit nombre de partitions pour le petit et le grand écran), Laurent Petitgirard est idéalement placé pour mettre en valeur la musique du compositeur fétiche de Steven Spielberg et George Lucas. Mélodiste efficace et maître génial de l’orchestration, John Williams n’a pas son pareil pour exalter les possibilités sonores de l’orchestre symphonique avec une fascination particulière pour les cuivres. Son inspiration emprunte à la fois aux grandes plumes hollywoodiennes, aux compositeurs européens majeurs du XXème siècle (Prokofiev, Chostakovitch, etc) mais aussi aux Américains Ives, Copland et Bernstein. Le programme de l’Orchestre Colonne résonne comme une rétrospective du palmarès des Oscars : Star Wars, E. T., Superman, Rencontres du troisième type, Les Aventuriers de l’arche perdue, L’Empire du soleil, Harry Potter, La Liste de Schindler… Le tout pour à peine plus cher qu’une place de cinéma !
