Récompensé aux Victoires de la Musique en 2015, Guillaume Connesson est l’un des compositeurs français de sa génération les plus joués dans le monde, notamment par les orchestres anglais et américains. Il compose dans un style néo-tonal et se réclame de maîtres aussi différents que Couperin, Wagner, Strauss, Debussy, Messiaen, Dutilleux et Steve Reich. Mais Guillaume Connesson aime aussi se tourner vers les musiques populaires dans un esprit d’ouverture vis-à-vis des traditions de la musique savante. La danse par exemple occupe une place primordiale dans sa musique. L’Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine interprète son Flammenschrift (Lettre de feu), une œuvre explosive et fulgurante écrite en 2012 en hommage à Beethoven. Pour compléter ce programme : le Premier concerto pour piano de Brahms avec l’anglais Paul Lewis en soliste, réputé pour ses interprétations de Schubert et de Beethoven, et la Première symphonie du même compositeur.
