« Ce que j’apprécie avec l’Ondif, c’est qu’il y a à la fois une atmosphère de travail sérieuse et une joie, une vraie envie de jouer », explique Mazzola. Cette jolie complicité s’exprime en ce début d’année-anniversaire dans un programme original et surprenant inspiré par la figure de l’Oiseau, à travers le personnage de Papageno de La Flûte enchantée de Mozart (les airs « Der Vogelfänger » et « Eine Mädchen oder Weibchen »), ceux que fait surgir Gustav Mahler dans Les Chants d’un compagnon errant dès que le texte évoque la nature, et bien sûr, point culminant de ce programme, celui magique, légendaire et insaisissable de Stravinski dans L’Oiseau de feu. Au même programme : l’ouverture du Voyage à Reims de Rossini et une œuvre fascinante, multiple et par essence imprévisible de la compositrice finlandaise Kaija Saariaho – Forty Heartbeats – dont l’ordre et le tempo sont librement déterminés par ses interprètes. En soliste dans Mozart et Mahler, le baryton autrichien Markus Werba, omniprésent sur les plus grandes scènes mondiales, dont celle du Staatsoper de Vienne où il triomphé dans le rôle de Papageno.
