L’été 2011 de l’ONDIF a été marqué par la double nomination de Fabienne Voisin, au poste de directrice générale, et du chef espagnol Enrique Mazzola au poste de directeur musical (à partir de septembre 2012). L’un comme l’autre connaissent déjà très bien l’orchestre : Fabienne Voisin pour y avoir occupé différentes fonctions depuis 2003, et Enrique Mazzola en qualité de chef invité. Mais pour « ouvrir » sa nouvelle saison à la Salle Pleyel, l’Orchestre National d’Île de France reste logiquement fidèle à l’excellent chef israélien Yoel Levi, opportunément nommé en son temps par Marc-Olivier Dupin au poste de chef principal, qui a accompli depuis septembre 2005 un remarquable travail de fond sur le son et la cohésion d’ensemble de la formation symphonique de la région Île-de-France. Il dirige un spectaculaire programme à dominante russe composé de la Suite n° 1 de Chostakovitch, du Concerto pour violon n° 2 de Bartok (avec le prodige russe Valeriy Sokolov en soliste) et culminant avec la cantate Alexandre Nevsky de Prokofiev, servie par les voix de la mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Semenchuk et du Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris.
