L’œuvre, déjà copieuse, de Pascal Dusapin a pris une dimension médiatique nouvelle ces dernières années avec ses opéras Perelà (créé à l’Opéra Bastille en 2003) puis Faustus, The Last Night (créé au Staatsoper de Berlin en 2006) et Passion (créé au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence l’an dernier et repris à la Cité de la musique le 11 avril prochain). Mais, à côté de ces ouvrages de grande envergure, le compositeur, âgé de cinquante-trois ans, poursuit un patient travail de réflexion créative sur l’orchestre entrepris en 1992. L’Orchestre philharmonique de Liège et son chef Pascal Rophé, un familier de l’œuvre de Dusapin, créent ce soir un septième « solo pour orchestre » du compositeur intitulé Uncut. Ils le font précéder des six autres œuvres du genre : l’orchestre y apparaît chaque fois comme un tout, en quelque sorte à l’opposé du concerto pour orchestre tel que l’envisageait Bartók.
