OPERA ROYAL DE VERSAILLES / NOUVELLE PRODUCTION
C’était en 2008 à Pleyel : Paul Agnew et les Arts Florissants donnaient une version de concert de l’Orfeo de Monteverdi. Près de dix ans plus tard, les voilà de retour avec la même partition, à l’Opéra de Versailles, dans une nouvelle production mise en espace par Paul Agnew lui-même. Un Orfeo qu’il décrit comme intime : « Le décor relativement épuré permet de remettre l’œuvre dans son contexte antique, et de placer la musique, et par le biais de la musique, le texte, au cœur du spectacle et de l’expérience du spectateur. C’est avec cette simplicité que l’on peut accomplir le principe qui régit toute l’œuvre de Monteverdi, à savoir que le texte doit guider l’harmonie. » On peut croire sur parole ce fin connaisseur de Monteverdi, qui vient d’enregistrer l’intégrale de ses madrigaux avec notamment Hannah Morrison, qui incarne ici Eurydice. Un bel hommage pour fêter les 250 ans de la naissance de Monteverdi.
