OPERA ROYAL DE VERSAILLES / NOUVELLE PRODUCTION
Si l’Orfeo de Monteverdi est considéré comme le premier opéra, celui de Luigi Rossi (1597-1653) est le premier qui fut joué en France, en 1647, à l’instigation de Mazarin. Les nouveautés de l’œuvre (castrats, instruments et musiciens italiens, spectaculaire machinerie du génial ingénieur Giacomo Torelli) suscitèrent un ébahissement enthousiaste. De même que Raphaël Pichon, son Chœur et Orchestre Pygmalion et des chanteurs italiens et français dans une mise en scène de la néerlandaise Jetske Mijnssen pour cette magnifique production déjà saluée l’année dernière à Versailles. Les chanteuses Judith van Wanroij et Francesca Aspromonte campent un Orfeo et une Euridice avec grâce et fraîcheur, Dominique Visse en vieille dame et Marc Mauillon en Momus sont irrésistibles, et le reste de la distribution est à l’avenant.
