Kazutomi Kozuki, Navala Chaudhari, Valgerour Rúnarsdóttir, Shawn Mothupi : le tintement des consonances dit bien la mêlée des géographies qui enfanta Origine, de Sidi larbi Cherkoui. Venus du Japon, d’Inde, d’Islande et d’Afrique du Sud, les quatre danseurs croisent leur monde, frottent leurs frasques d’enfance, parfois nouent leur solitude et tentent de cheminer ensemble dans l’incertain présent. Ponctuée par des musiques de la bénédictine mystique Hildegarde von Bingen et par des chants anciens, scandinaves, maronites et syriens, la danse glisse au creux des sens multiples du terme « origine » et chemine au gré de saynètes qui empruntent aussi au théâtre corporel, au jeu d’ombre et à la vidéo. Corps fichés l’un dans l’autre puis séparés, métamorphoses animales, homme caché au détour des gestes du quotidien, immigré brutalement menotté dans sa fuite… se donnent comme autant de métaphores. Si le propos use parfois les gags et les clichés, la force évocatrice des images, la liberté d’imaginaire et les duos, stupéfiants d’inventivité gestuelle, insufflent une poésie puissante et critique qui dépose une douce mélancolie sur la peau rugueuse du quotidien.
