Frustrantes d’un point de vue théâtral, les versions de concert sont souvent musicalement jubilatoires. Car il est bien sûr plus facile de réunir des artistes de premier plan pour une série de concerts de quelques jours que pour une production d’un mois. Mais surtout, l’ensemble des protagonistes se concentre davantage sur la musique, évitant les décalages rythmiques ou les problèmes de projection trop souvent liés à la direction d’acteur. Il ne faut donc pas manquer l’Otello présenté au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. Vocalement, le très charismatique Ben Heppner devrait incarner à la perfection le rôle-titre, d’autant qu’il a pour compagne la remarquable Anja Harteros en Desdémone. A la baguette, Daniel Harding dirige ses fidèles musiciens du Mahler Chamber Orchestra avec lesquels il offrira à coup sûr une version dépoussiérée du drame verdien.
