Murphy Sheppard n’est pas une enfant tout à fait comme les autres, puisque son corps est couvert d’écailles de pangolin. Alistair, généticien et père hyper-protecteur, l’élève seul dans un appartement au trente-sixième étage d’une tour. A douze ans, Murphy n’est jamais sorti de ce cocon : elle prend connaissance du monde extérieur par écrans interposés. Mais un jour, Alistair disparaît sans laisser de traces et Murphy sort de l’appartement à la recherche de « la colonie », la communauté énigmatique en quête de « l’esprit de la ruche » dont elle a suivi les aventures dans sa claustration médiatique. « L’héroïne de Pangolarium, métaphoriquement mutante, est la figure d’une génération avide de sens, en rupture avec les modèles sociétaux traditionnels. » remarquent Nicolas Liautard et Magalie Nadaud qui, avec ce spectacle, rompent avec les formes habituelles du théâtre jeune public et proposent une progression narrative originale, aux entrées multiples, qui contribue à explorer les questions politiques et écologiques contemporaines.
