Connu comme romancier et producteur de radio, Benoît Duteurtre est aussi le directeur d’une association consacrée à la musique contemporaine : Musique nouvelle en liberté. C’est cette structure qui, tous les deux ans, organise le Festival des « Paris de la musique », mêlant grand répertoire et création contemporaine. Auteur du Requiem pour une avant-garde (éd. Les belles lettres), Benoît Duteurtre est un anti-boulézien notoire. Rien d’étonnant donc à ce que Musique nouvelle en liberté fasse la part belle aux compositeurs néo-tonaux. On remarquera néanmoins que la septième édition des « Paris de la musique » affiche une plus grande diversité de styles musicaux que les années précédentes.
Horizons élargis
Olari Elts dirige l’Ensemble orchestral de Paris pour la création française de la Quatrième symphonie « Los Angeles » du compositeur minimaliste estonien Arvo Pärt (10 novembre). L’Orchestre Pasdeloup, qui fête ses 150 ans, interprète pour sa part une création de la franco-japonaise Noriko Baba (13 novembre). Sous la baguette de David Zinman, l’Orchestre de Paris retrouve Marc-André Dalbavie, qui fut en résidence avec cette phalange de 2001 à 2005, pour la création française de Variations orchestrales sur une œuvre de Janacek (17 novembre). L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France et Lawrence Foster proposent quant à eux une création de Vincent Paulet intitulée Volcaniques (19 novembre). Le seul concert du festival qui ne soit pas symphonique est donné par le Quatuor Diotima, qui jouera notamment le Quatuor à cordes n°3 de Gilbert Amy (15 novembre).
