Drame en trois actes de la passion ardente et du verbe tendu, drame extrême où la chair et l’esprit se livrent une lutte âpre et sans concession, où le désir charnel et la vie même côtoient la mort, omniprésente et terrifiante, Partage de Midi, ici dans la version de 1905, suscite chaque saison plusieurs mises en scène. Quatre personnages : une femme Ysé, son mari De Ciz, fade et trivial, son amant épris d’absolu Mésa, et un amant opportuniste Amalric. Claudel lui-même, fervent catholique ayant voulu entrer dans les ordres, a été piégé par une passion adultère… Antoine Caubet s’attaque à ce texte avec l’exigeante ambition artistique qu’il provoque, « Pourquoi la naissance à la vie par l’amour doit-elle avoir le prix d’une telle destruction ? (…) Parce qu’il faut arracher de soi la vieille peau pour aller vers l’esprit. (…) Ce que font, magnifiquement, épouvantablement, Mésa et Ysé, au mépris de tout ce qui n’est pas eux deux. » Un voyage à vivre en trois lieux – hall d’accueil, grande salle et petite salle – et trois dispositifs différents.
