Comment résumer en une soirée 50 ans passés sur scène à faire de la musique ? C’est à cette question qu’a dû répondre le contrebassiste, leader, compositeur et arrangeur Patrice Caratini en acceptant la flatteuse invitation du Théâtre du Châtelet. Il répond tout simplement à la question « en invitant des musiciens avec qui j’ai travaillé depuis 20, 30, voire 40 ans, mais aussi d’autres plus jeunes avec lesquels je viens de monter des projets récents, explique Caratini. Il y aura quatre générations de musiciens sur scène. De magnifiques “anciens” comme Martial Solal et Marcel Azzola, toujours au sommet de leur art, jusqu’à cette prometteuse accordéoniste de 25 ans, Maryll Abbas… » poursuit-il. La soirée puisera dans onze des programmes du musicien, avec sur scène à la fois le Caratini Jazz Ensemble au grand complet, son luxueux grand ensemble, quatorze invités, dont le trompettiste classique Thierry Caens et l’Orchestre Régional de Normandie, et de vieilles connaissances, comme le pianiste argentin Gustavo Beytelmann (souvenir du magistral Trio Mosalini/Beytelmann/Caratini) et même le chanteur Maxime Le Forestier, pour la reprise-événement d’une chanson – Le fantôme de Pierrot, issue de l’album « Hymne à sept temps » paru en 1976 -, dont « Cara » avait signé toutes les orchestrations.
