Ils étaient quatre, ils venaient de Liverpool et n’avaient pas vingt ans, que déjà le monde médiatique naissant allait les rattraper et les canoniser en « trend-setters » sur papier glacé… Les Beatles faisaient irruption à l’orée des années 60 et partout déclenchaient l’hystérie des fans et des magazines qui épiaient leurs moindres gestes et construisaient le mythe au jour le jour. « Je trouve vraiment que la période dans laquelle ils ont grandi est passionnante. Ils sont devenus les Beatles évidemment à cause de leur qualité musicale mais parce qu’il fallait que quelque chose arrive, il fallait que quelque chose donne corps à la libération sexuelle, au changement. Il fallait des gens pour exprimer cela » analyse Herman Diephuis.
Trois garçons dans le vent
Dans le sillage de D’après J.-C., qui puisait dans les représentations du Christ à la Renaissance, et de Dalila et Samson, par exemple, qui s’inspirait de couples mythiques et bibliques de la peinture baroque hollandaise, le chorégraphe a prélevé parmi les postures et l’immortelle imagerie des Beatles une grammaire de gestes et d’attitudes qu’il réinvente par la danse. Sur scène, ils ne sont que trois. Trois sans Paul. Mais trois garçons dans le vent : Jean-Baptiste André, Jérôme Andrieu, Julien Gallée-Ferré. Trois autour de la batterie qui trône sur un podium. Ce trio pop rock, à la fois groupe et groupies, s’infiltre au cœur des icônes gravées dans la mémoire collective, se glisse en boucle dans les mélodies sans parole, ressassées jusqu’à l’épuisement.
