Avez-vous déjà présenté ces trois pièces sous la forme d’un triptyque ?
Pé Vermeersch : C’est une première, et j’en suis ravie… Ce sont les trois pièces les plus importantes des dix dernières années de mon parcours !
Qu’est-ce qui relie ces trois œuvres ?
P. V. : Une grande intensité corporelle, ce que j’appellerais une « abstraction vécue ». Et une relation pure avec la musique. Dans le solo Blondes have no soul (2001), il n’y a pas d’autre son que ma propre voix ; je voulais trouver mon langage de danse en silence. Dans le trio Het Orgelt (2009), le son est immense : il s’agit d’œuvres pour orgue, qui vibrent jusque dans le corps des danseuses et des spectateurs… Dans Making the skies move (2011), la musique de Messiaen nous emmène dans la recherche d’une beauté qui passe par la dissonance, qui n’est pas facile à atteindre, et qui rejoint la danse dans ses modulations, ses ruptures imprévisibles, mais aussi ses structures très douces.
Het Orgelt est présenté dans une église : c’est rare pour de la danse contemporaine…
P. V. : Il n’est pas toujours facile d’obtenir l’autorisation de danser dans une église, mais nous trouvons néanmoins des interlocuteurs ouverts à cette démarche, qui d’ailleurs ne cherche pas à choquer, et respecte l’héritage religieux. Le choix de créer cette pièce pour l’espace d’une église est d’abord lié à mon désir de travailler avec un organiste. Mais il s’agit aussi, comme dans le reste de mon travail, d’explorer le sacré. Trois femmes qui dansent, pieds nus sur le sol d’une église, viennent poser des questions à l’esthétique catholique, qui n’est pas aussi « désincarnée » qu’on pourrait le croire : je suis très intéressée par le fait d’apporter la physicalité dans ce lieu plein de symboles.
