Il s’agit de l’une des figures mythiques du milieu de l’art moderne du XXème siècle. Mécène, collectionneuse, galeriste, Peggy Guggenheim (1898-1979) a consacré sa vie aux œuvres d’art et aux artistes. C’est le portrait de cette personnalité hors du commun que le dramaturge américain Lanie Robertson peint dans Peggy Guggenheim : Femme face à son miroir. « En choisissant de mettre en scène l’épure de quelques silhouettes suspendues telles un mobile onirique et macabre, explique Christophe Lidon, c’est toute la sincérité et la vérité de Peggy que je souhaite mettre en avant comme dans un confessionnal. Elle s’adresse à nous, souvent pour nous faire rire, et derrière ce sourire carnassier et ces lunettes, c’est toute la tension d’une femme qui s’est battue pour son œuvre qui rejaillit. » Une femme atypique, excentrique, passionnée, que Stéphanie Bataille incarne sur la scène du Petit Louvre.
