Si la reine des amazones Penthésilée donne son titre à la pièce, c’est davantage le pluriel et les points de suspension qui vont piquer notre curiosité. L’écriture de Catherine Diverrès a toujours donné une place de choix au corps féminin. Comment, après s’être retournée sur elle-même dans son dernier solo Ô Sensei, va-t-elle questionner les figures de femmes qui peuplent notre imaginaire, nos mythologies, notre inconscient, notre histoire ? La chorégraphe s’est d’abord attachée au texte d’Heinrich Von Kleist pour aborder l’affaire sous l’angle du mythe, partant de l’Antiquité pour le faire résonner aujourd’hui. Les neuf interprètes, hommes et femmes, se jouent des stéréotypes et des codes qui fondent nos identités. Et c’est en puisant dans la réalité des danseuses qui accompagnent la chorégraphe sur cette création mais aussi dans tout son parcours qu’est née la matière de Penthésilées… Des vies où la féminité s’exprime ou se contient selon les épreuves du quotidien, des vies d’artistes aux choix multiples et toujours complexes.
