« Si Charles Aznavour touche à l’universel, c’est qu’il porte le chant de l’exil. Sa voix est un vent chaud du désert qui nous traverse de part en part, vieux de plusieurs millénaires, indémodable, éternel », dit Gaëtan Vassart, qui adapte et met en scène avec Laure Roldán le roman autobiographique d’Aïda Aznavour-Garvarentz, la sœur du chanteur. Au-delà de l’hommage à l’inoubliable interprète, le spectacle aborde de manière sensible les thèmes de l’amour fraternel, la création artistique, la migration et l’intégration. Sur scène, Grégoire Tachnakian et Laure Roldàn incarnent Aïda et Charles se remémorant leurs parents, leur fuite pour échapper au génocide, la pauvreté à Paris, la guerre de 39-45, l’appartement familial qui sert de refuge aux juifs et aux résistants. Ils font le portrait de la vie de bohème, de la conquête du music-hall et de la rencontre déterminante avec Edith Piaf. Le dialogue entre la sœur et le frère dessine, en creux, le portrait de tous les déracinés qui ont les étoiles pour repères et la volonté d’accomplissement comme guide.
