Les concepteurs de Petite masse, Grossus, 168,800 kg ont décidé de mettre les outils du théâtre, de la vidéo, et du chant au service d’une enquête sur l’histoire des rondeurs, des régimes alimentaires, des préjugés, de la discrimination ordinaire (qui considère que les gros ont choisi de l’être), et des solutions absurdes, pilules miraculeuses, traitements sadiques et autres tentatives pour faire rentrer dans la moyenne pondérale ceux qui subissent « la quadruple peine du handicap physique, de la culpabilisation, du mépris et de la discrimination ».
Gros, et alors ?
Sylvain Stawski et Frédérique Moreau de Bellaing rappellent une évidence : « les gros sont en grande majorité des victimes de la maladie obésité, et non comme le croient les gens minces, des lavettes qui se laissent aller et manquent de courage pour contrôler leur appétit. » Souvent méprisés par le corps médical, raillés à l’école, relégués dans le monde du travail, objets de moqueries sur les réseaux sociaux, les gros sont incompris. Inutile de « présumer de l’état de santé d’une personne, de son intelligence, de son caractère ou de ses capacités en fonction de son poids » ; inutile également de présumer de son talent, de son humour et de sa capacité critique, ce que les auteurs de ce spectacle entendent prouver en mettant les pieds dans le plat…
