Difficile d’innover quand on monte un classique maintes fois représenté. En abordant Phèdre, après Britannicus, Laurent Domingos note que le désir à l’œuvre dans la pièce se révèle à géométrie variable. Lorsque un homme comme Thésée l’éprouve, il est valorisé, mais lorsque une femme comme Phèdre le ressent, sans même le consommer, il est réprouvé. Ainsi, sa mise en scène fait selon lui « largement écho à cette dissymétrie atemporelle des genres, dont les personnages n’ont absolument pas conscience (et qu’hommes et femmes valident largement). » En insistant sur les costumes, notamment le port de la cravate pour les hommes, les jeux de regards et un langage chorégraphique signé Céline Pradeu, Laurent Domingos livre une version personnelle qui ridiculise le patriarcat et relativise la conduite prétendument monstrueuse de Phèdre.
