L’histoire du ballet est ponctuée de relectures de la mythologie grecque. C’est ce que rappelle cette soirée composée, qui nous fait d’abord redécouvrir Phèdre, « tragédie chorégraphique » de Jean Cocteau et Serge Lifar, dont les dernières représentations remontent à 1977 : c’est au terme d’un soigneux travail de remontage et de transmission, mené notamment par Claude Bessy (voir photo), que les interprètes d’aujourd’hui investissent ce ballet de fureur, de jalousie et de désespoir, porté par la musique de Georges Auric. L’exploration dansée des passions humaines se poursuit avec la création de Psyché, par Alexei Ratmansky. Se saisissant de la partition frémissante de César Franck, il donne vie à la jeune femme belle et trop curieuse, dont le dieu de l’amour lui-même est épris : « Pour moi, remarque le chorégraphe russe, l’idée la plus importante est que la recherche de l’amour est un sentiment qui éveille, qui met en mouvement. C’est une démarche dans laquelle il ne faut pas essayer de tout "savoir", mais au contraire laisser parler son instinct... »
