Star du chant baroque, le jeune contre-ténor français à la voix éthérée s’aventure dans un univers musical aux antipodes des partitions flamboyantes italiennes des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles qui sont devenues sa spécialité. Le wonderboy du chant baroque français se sentirait-il déjà à l’étroit dans ces répertoires ? « A bien réfléchir, il faut bien reconnaître que ce type de voix ne dispose pas d’un répertoire spécifique très vaste » confie-t-il… Son nouveau projet l’amène aujourd’hui dans l’atmosphère feutrée et délicate des salons parisiens de la fin du 19e et du début du 20e siècle. Dans un enregistrement intitulé « Opium » qui paraît chez Virgin et lors de ce récital matinal, Philippe Jaroussky se lance le défi d’explorer l’univers de la mélodie française. Il souhaite aborder les miniatures délicates de Reynaldo Hahn, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Chausson, Caplet, D’Indy, Dukas, Debussy, Franck ou Massenet en choisissant « volontairement la prononciation la plus proche possible de la voix parlée actuelle, afin que les mots résonnent de la façon la plus naturelle dans l’imaginaire des auditeurs, en essayant d’écarter tout affect ou surinterprétation ». Intrigant et risqué.
