De Maurice Jarre à Georges Delerue en passant par Michel Legrand et Gabriel Yared, la scène musicale française a souvent fourni au cinéma mondial quelques-unes de ses meilleures plumes. La nouvelle génération n’est pas en reste et Philippe Rombi, né en 1968 à Pau, compte parmi les compositeurs actuels les plus remarquables. Il a été formé à Marseille, en particulier auprès de Pierre Barbizet pour le piano, puis à l’Ecole Supérieure de Musique de Paris, dans la classe d’Antoine Duhamel, pour la composition. Rombi lie très tôt sa carrière de compositeur pour l’image à celle du réalisateur François Ozon dont il signe la musique de tous les films à partir des Amants Criminels en 1999 : Sous le Sable (2000), Swimming Pool (2003), 5×2 (2004), Angel (2007) et encore très récemment Ricky (2009). Pour la petite histoire, Rombi vient aussi de signer la BO du film-phénomène Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis… Cette soirée exceptionnelle permettra d’éclairer la personnalité brillante de ce musicien particulièrement complet, à la fois compositeur, pianiste, arrangeur et chef d’orchestre, en revoyant plusieurs extraits de ses œuvres de cinéma, ponctués par ses propres interventions au piano.
