Damien Demangeot écrit Ravachol, inspiré par la biographie dictée en prison de l’anarchiste français,et par des ouvrages historiques et les archives de la Préfecture de Police. « Je ne suis qu’un ouvrier sans instruction. Ma mère était moulinière en soie, je fus placé à l’asile… », c’est ainsi que commence la vie de misère extrême de celui qui sera guillotiné en 1892. L’enfant revient périodiquement chez sa mère, garde les vaches et les brebis, et pleure parfois en les regardant. Apprenti teinturier du côté de Saint-Chamond et de Saint-Étienne ou manœuvre à la cisaille, il fait maison sur maison, renvoyé pour perte de temps, bavardages, rires entre camarades et surtout pour insoumission à ses patrons. Il opte pour l’anarchie, « c’est l’anéantissement de la propriété », fabrique des explosifs, s’adonne à la contrebande, la fausse monnaie, au petit vol avant de passer au grand pour complaire aux besoins de sa maîtresse. Il assassine et dérobe. Arrêté, il s’évade et s’enfuit à Paris…
Le comédien se traîne et vocifère en soulevant sa jambe malade
Mal né, mal mort, le délinquant avant l’heure crie « Vive la Ré ! » au moment du geste fatal du bourreau. L’acteur Damien Houssier, une figure rajeunie de Genet, profère avec la hargne du mauvais garçon les imprécations de l’anarchiste. Il déverse sur son corps dénudé et christique, qui finira le cou coupé, un seau de sang : « Ravachol est le Non ! » Voilà comment le poète dérange et restitue un corps à son tombeau. Dans un même esprit d’insurrection, le Philoctète de Demangeot refuse de quitter son île à la demande d’Ulysse – la guerre de Troie dure depuis dix ans déjà – , intéressé par l’arc d’Héraklès détenu par cet homme à la jambe gangrenée. « Je hais les Grecs », dit-il, ils sont obnubilés par la beauté et la guerre, ils nient la blessure humiliante du corps menacé par la mort. Avec pour paysage le ciel et ses travées de soleil nuageuses, le murmure du rivage, les cris des mouettes, l’île est la demeure suffisante de Philoctète, loin de l’arrogance des vainqueurs. Le comédien se traîne et vocifère en soulevant sa jambe malade, il lance des anathèmes sur son peuple suffisant. Ces deux destins malheureux sont incarnés à travers le geste théâtral sincère, les soubresauts, les tensions et les chutes d’un être « différent ». Une vision insolite servie par le jeu baroque d’un comédien dont la posture trash éveille à la résistance. Un vrai travail.
