L’idée est simple, mais ambitieuse : démontrer aux habitants d’Aubervilliers que le théâtre est lié à leur vie en créant des spectacles à partir d’eux, et avec eux. « Les pièces d’actualité, ce sont des manières nouvelles de faire du théâtre, explique Marie-José Malis, directrice du Théâtre de la Commune. Elles disent que la modernité du théâtre, sa vitalité, passent par ce recueil de ce qui fait la vie des gens, des questions qu’ils se posent, et de ce temps du monde, complexe, poignant, que nous vivons tous. » Premier artiste invité à travailler dans ce cadre, Laurent Chétouane va interroger le rapport au théâtre de La Commune de douze habitants d’Aubervilliers. Trois semaines de répétitions, dix jours de représentations pour « suivre le fil d’une Antigone » et en découdre avec le rapport au théâtre – comme art mais aussi comme lieu. Une façon, avant Maguy Marin en décembre et Olivier Coulon-Jablonka en mai, d’envisager l’espace de jeu comme espace public et de renouveler l’idée du théâtre comme Agora.
