Il est ici question de guitare. En électroacoustique, avec un son folk où chaque corde est une voix, l’instrument se fait presque orchestral. Maîtrisé, le style de Bensusan est aussi mélodique qu’harmonique, polyphonique, quelque part entre guitare classique et compositions pop folk. Au détour d’une ligne harmonique ou d’une ambiance de jeu, on retrouvera l’Espagne, l’Afrique, le jazz, un rien de Django peut-être, beaucoup d’inspirations mouvantes unifiées par la personnalité de l’artiste, comme plongé dans un road movie introspectif et serein.
Brio instrumental et inspiration pudique
Sans se complaire dans la démonstration d’un jeu de guitare virtuose, Bensusan invite plutôt à côtoyer son univers doux, évidemment passionné, où le brio extrême du jeu n’empêche pas une certaine discrétion, un niveau d’intimité rendu palpable et touchant. Parfois, Bensusan chante aussi, plutôt bien même, se délectant d’allitérations poétiques. Pour la petite histoire, Bensusan sillonne depuis 35 ans les routes du monde, particulièrement celles des Etats-Unis où sa place est faite depuis les années 70, collaborant avec Higelin, Taj Mahal ou Paco de Lucia. Depuis la sortie de son dixième album « Vividly » (Quart de Lune / Rue Stendhal) l’an dernier, Bensusan poursuit une longue tournée américaine et européenne, apparaissant à Paris pour quatre courtes dates.
