Le temps d’un concert est trop court pour que puisse s’exprimer pleinement l’art de Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Susciter des rapprochements, pousser à la découverte, rendre simple l’histoire de la musique, telles sont les qualités que mettent en évidence les cycles de concerts que propose, depuis longtemps déjà, ce musicien éminemment pédagogue. Après un parcours lyrique, la saison dernière à l’Opéra de Paris, les cinq concerts qui composent le « domaine privé » que lui offre la Cité de la musique sont autant d’invitations au plaisir intelligent de la musique. Avec l’Orchestre national de Lyon dirigé par Thierry Fischer, Pierre-Laurent Aimard plonge dans le mythe de Prométhée à travers Beethoven, Luigi Nono et Scriabine (26 mars) ; avec l’Orchestre de chambre d’Europe, qu’il dirige le 3 avril, il réunit les deux « écoles de Vienne », celle de Haydn (Symphonie « Le Philosophe ») et Mozart (Concerto n° 23) et celle de Schoenberg et Webern, prolongée jusqu’à nous avec les Ramifications de György Ligeti. La part contemporaine sera prépondérante avec l’Ensemble intercontemporain dirigé par Susanna Mälkki le 2 avril (le pianiste interprètera les Sept haïkaï de Messiaen), et avec les œuvres de György Kurtág, en reflet aux Chants de l’aube de Schumann (avec la soprano Elena Vassilieva, le 1er avril). Point central du cycle, l’interprétation le 29 mars de L’Art de la fugue de Bach.
