« Pourquoi est-il plus facile de regarder un film de Kung Fu que de la danse contemporaine ? », questionne avec malice Lin Yuan Shang. En réalisant en 2008 Kung Fu Dancing, solo en forme de conférence dansée, le chorégraphe mettait à jour les liens entre son travail de corps et l’énergie du Kung Fu comme source d’inspiration pour sa danse. Planète Kung Fu est une soirée imaginée en reflet à ce travail, explorant également d’autres pans de la culture chinoise : massages, taï chi, dégustation de thés, projection de films Kung Fu, explication par le chorégraphe et par François Liu des grands principes de la médecine chinoise, découverte de spécialités culinaires… De belles mises en condition pour le corps et l’esprit du spectateur, qui conduisent à la découverte des prémisses de la prochaine création Commandos Kung Fu, trio danse et musique sur l’art de la guerre, et à la reprise de sa conférence dansée, qui dévoile également l’étonnant parcours du danseur taïwanais.
