Tout semble baigner dans une gentille quiétude au sanatorium du Docteur Bläsi : luxe clinique, humeurs ripolinées et sourires en façade… Perchés sur la terrasse, entre ciel et terre, les pensionnaires très seventies trompent l’attente en chantant des tubes et balancent de Modern Talking à Brigitte Bardot. Parfois, happés tous ensemble par des Lieder de Schubert ou Mahler, ils laissent échapper un nuage inquiet. Et entre deux visites du médecin-chef ou deux séances de remise en forme intensive, ils concluent des contrats d’assurance absurdes, écoutent des lectures sur l’esprit divin ou se perdent en palabres dérisoires. Victimes de leur propre obsession de la santé…. Dans Platz Mangel (« manque de place »), le Suisse Christoph Marthaler ourdit la critique impitoyable, drôle et terriblement poignante, d’une exploitation économique cynique de la maladie où chaque patient n’est plus qu’un stock d’organes recyclables. Sa bande d’acteurs-musiciens-chanteurs traverse cet univers surréel, profondément mélancolique, engoncé dans les faux-semblants d’un bien-être fade… Contre, tout contre le néant.
