Opéra national de Paris / Chor. Alexander Ekman
Quand il a commencé à chorégraphier il y a douze ans, Alexander Ekman s’est dit qu’un jour ce serait peut-être pour l’Opéra de Paris. En décembre, il verra son rêve réalisé avec la création de Play ! Jouer donc. Mais le chorégraphe s’intéresse plutôt au mystère de la disparition de ce plaisir à l’âge adulte. À 34 ans, il avoue ne pas avoir de règles, ni de jeu, ni de composition. « Je veux vous surprendre et vous faire oublier votre vie », explique-t-il au sujet de Play. Lui qui aime tant ébranler les codes et refuse toute convention, même et surtout celle du ballet classique qu’il juge beaucoup trop éloigné de ses contemporains, a déjà essayé toutes sortes de formules magiques : Un Lac des cygnes (Swan Lake) sous 6000 litres d’eau, une sorte de one man show comique sur la prestigieuse scène du Bolchoï intitulé Thoughts at the Bolshoi (2015). Maniant la vidéo comme personne, maître du burlesque, de l’humour et d’un imaginaire sans limite, Alexander Ekman, actuellement chorégraphe résident au Nederlands Dans Theater I, devrait conquérir le public de l’Opéra pour les fêtes de fin d’année.
