Faisant suite à une soirée exceptionnelle (le 1er février) aux Abbesses autour des poèmes de Nazim Hikmet dits par Genco Erkal, la scène du Théâtre de la Ville accueille deux concerts exceptionnels consacrés à la Turquie. Le 13 février, le prestigieux Ensemble de musique classique turque d’Istanbul, composé de seize solistes instrumentistes et chanteurs de renom, nous offre une plongée aux sources de la musique savante turque. Reposant généralement sur une architecture modale, cet art musical complexe et pluriel a culminé au XVIIè siècle, offrant une synthèse entre influences byzantines, persanes, arabes et turques. Cet ensemble d’exception créé en 1987 fait vivre ce remarquable répertoire méconnu des oreilles occidentales. Une semaine, plus tard, le concert sera consacré au grand romancier, compositeur et chanteur Zülfu Livaneli. Entouré de 6 musiciens, il défendra , à la manière de son ami Mikis Theodorakis en Grèce, la parole d’auteurs et poètes importants, turcs bien sûr, à commencer par l’immense Hikmet, mais aussi grecs (Kavafis), espagnols (Lorca) et français. « J’écris ton nom liberté » de Paul Eluard, traduit et adapté par ses soins, est d’ailleurs devenu en Turquie un véritable hymne à la tolérance, au progrès et à la liberté. « Pour pouvoir expliquer notre vie, je pense que la poésie joue un rôle fondamental. C’est pour cette raison que j’ai voulu être le compositeur des grands poètes » confie Livaneli.
