Violence urbaine. Violence gratuite. Violence humaine. Violence subite. Violence infligée. Violence médiatique. Violence filmée. Faisant suite à une résidence au CENTQUATRE à Paris et à une série de représentations données au festival ActOral-Montévidéo à Marseille, Pour rire pour passer le temps est le fruit d’un processus de travail au cours duquel un texte de sept tableaux s’est écrit depuis le plateau, avec les comédiens. « Ici, la violence est un jeu (un enjeu ?) qui se déroule au fil de l’histoire, au point de basculer dans la théâtralité, explique Cyril Teste. Un dispositif vidéo envoie dans des temps et des rythmes différents le texte qui défile, permettant aux acteurs de le lire en temps réel, de le redécouvrir sans cesse dans un défilement aléatoire. Ainsi, ils peuvent questionner le surgissement des mots et leur géographie à travers l’expérience qu’ils vivent au plateau. Le texte ne s’apprend pas ; il se révèle à leurs yeux – à nos yeux – suggérant des questionnements sur la façon de l’appréhender, de représenter le sujet, sans désir de réponse. Nous tenterons une errance tant dans la parole que dans l’image que cette violence produit, à défaut de vouloir la résoudre ou la montrer. » Le metteur en scène a ainsi élaboré un dispositif que Sylvain Levey définit comme « une nuit sans fin », comme « un temps qui s’étire à l’infini ».
